Bruce Ronald Jensen

-

It is with heavy hearts that we let you know that Bruce Jensen passed away at the Westview Health Center Hospice in Stony Plain, AB on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the age of 57. Bruce grew up in the Beverly neighborhood in Edmonton. He spent some time as a heavy duty mechanic but then stayed at home to raise his three sons at a time when being a stay-at-home dad wasn’t really cool. He has done a tremendous job raising his boys who have lost their father much too young. Throughout his life he has been a passionate musician playing in several local bands over the years and running Kamikaze Karaoke and DJ Service for awhile. Bruce was a loyal friend and built many strong friendships over the years which meant a lot to him. He spent his last five years battling cancer with a vengeance surviving several near misses, but eventually he lost the strength to fight.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Carolyn (Aney) Jensen, sons Erik, Garth, and Tyrell. He is survived by his adoptive sister Paula (Wayne) Vollrath and their sons Drew, Rhys (& Tara and grandson Weston), and Cameron as well his biological sister Kathy (Richard) Robinson and their sons Tyler and Jacoby. He is also survived by his in-laws: Russ & Sharon Aney, Nicole & Juergen Luebke and their sons Garrett and Richard. In addition he is survived by his biological father Kris Haugen and brother Clayton Haugen. Bruce was predeceased by his adoptive father Tom Jensen, adoptive mother Agnes (Ruttle) Jensen, and biological mother Judy (Thode) Zerr.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Cross Cancer Institute for keeping Bruce alive for an extra five years, the Westview Emergency Department who helped Bruce on many occasions over the past few years and especially the Westview Palliative Team who were of tremendous assistance to Bruce and his family as his short life came to an end.

The Celebration of Life for Bruce will be held on July 6, 2017 at the Elks Social Hall in Spruce Grove, AB at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on behalf of Bruce to the Alberta Myeloma Support Society at multiplemyeloma.ca
