BROWN, Kevin Daryl

It’s with a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of Kevin Daryl Brown. Kevin passed away peacefully in his sleep, early in the morning on Monday, April 25th, 2022.

He will be greatly missed by many people who loved and cared for him; his mother, Donius Glover who has always been there for him, not only as his mom but also as his greatest advocate. His brother Dwayne in Ottawa, who enjoyed speaking with him on the phone whenever Donius visited Kevin on Saturdays. Kevin will also be missed by his niece Claire in Ottawa, who’s photograph he cherished greatly and by his nephew, Alex in Montreal. He was also predeceased by his father Gary Brown and his stepfather Guy Glover. Kevin and his hugs will also be fondly missed by many cousins of both sides of his family.

Kevin’s family was much larger than just his natural family, he was so loved by countless caregivers over the years and by the other residents of the Robin Hood community. Kevin really loved living in his Res10 group home and we know he will be truly missed by his group home family.

At 58 years old, yes Kevin was challenged with limited physical and intellectual capacities, but he seemed very happy, he was always smiling and he was always ready to offer a hug. Kevin always seemed to be ‘in the moment’, which perhaps is the best take away from losing a passionate family member. Life ebbs and flows, it gives and takes – which is the natural dynamic of life and a poignant reason to celebrate the moment and to appreciate the people close to us.

It’s been both humbling and helpful to read such kind and supportive sentiments and to have so many lovely phone calls of sympathy this week. In the spirit of gratitude for the kind support and care Kevin has received over the years, in lieu of flowers we’d appreciate any donations to be made to the Robin Hood Association in the name of Kevin Brown.

I had the beautiful privilege to work with Kevin for a few years at Robin Hood. He was always smiling and yes, ready to give a hug or handshake. May you rest in peace Kevin “Downtown” Brown. You will never be forgotten.
