BRICKER, Roy Herbert

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Roy Herbert Bricker who passed away on June 16, 2022 at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by his brother Drew Bricker (Toby), and his Uncle Garry Bricker, his nieces and nephews, Kelly, Robin, Leah, Matthew, Andrew, Shannon, Byron, Trina, and Ann.

He was predeceased by his mother Eva (1988), his father Jerry (1995), his sister Sharon (2013) and his brother Michael (2021).

Roy graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Criminology and received his Master’s in Criminology from Pepperdine University in California in 1970. After attending university in California, Roy fell in love with the San Diego and spent a great amount of time at his “second home”.

He started his career as a probation officer with the Government of Alberta and went on to hold various positions with the Solicitor General including Indian Affairs and Corrections. Roy spent 8 years at Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, where he held a variety of management positions, finally serving as the Chief Operating Officer. He was instrumental in the privatization of Liquor Retailing in Alberta.

After leaving the government he started Casino Consultants International and advised on the design, development, and construction of new casinos in Alberta. He then went on to various executive positions with Casino ABS, including President and Chief Executive Officer. Up until his passing he was still consulting to the gaming industry with Pinnacle Gaming Solutions.

Cremation has taken place. As per Roy’s request, there will be no service.

As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made in Roy’s name to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
