Brian Ronald Huntley

It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Ronald Huntley announce his passing, after a courageous battle with cancer, on June 5, 2018 at the age of 51.

Following many years on the move as a child of a military family, and after graduating from McMaster University with his Chemical Engineering and Management degree, he and his wife settled in the town of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.   They both worked for Dow Chemical and made many friends.  His sense of humour, and quick sarcastic wit will be missed by many and his sense of adventure was admired by us all.  Whether it was traveling to exotic places, scuba diving, cross country skiing or playing disc golf, Brian did as much as he could even up to the end of his battle.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 27 years, Dorota; his daughter Kristin and son Kyle.  Brian will be sadly missed by his father Ronald;  sister Carrie Fortier (Rock Fortier);  sister Teresa Wereley (Rob Pete); his mother-in-law Teresa Sluski and father-in-law Ted Sluski.  He will also be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Brian was predeceased by his mother Jo-Ann.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Fort Saskatchewan EMS, Fire Department, RCMP, and staff at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital for their incredible efforts and support.

A Celebration of Life, in memory of Brian Huntley will be held on Friday, July 13th, at the Dow Centennial Centre, in the Lions Mane Rm, from 1-3 pm.

Please confirm your presence with Carrie Fortier by email.  [email protected]

Memorial donations in Brian’s honour may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Way NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2,

There are no words to express the loss of Brian to those most impacted. 51 is young & there is nothing fair about this. I will always remember Brian’s consistent presence (& impressive calm) at every soccer match. Working with him at P&U at Dow was a bonus. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all, as they have been since we knew & will be until… time limit, as long as you need!

So sorry to hear this, Dorota. Our sympathies to all yours. I enjoyed working with Brian at HCP and our times on Corporate Challenge Teams.

We are so sorry for your loss of Brian, Dorota. We have fond memories of having you both members of our many trivia teams during our Hawaiian Cruise and thoroughly enjoying his many videos and pictures of your ocean excursions. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Dave and Joni
