Betty Bird-Desjarlais passed away in Edmonton, AB on March 15, 2018, at the age of 71 years.
Betty was born to Rosalie Quewezance and Mervin Kewistep
on April 26, 1946, in Nut Lake, SK.
On August 9, 2003, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ervin Henry Desjarlais.
In her early years, Betty worked in the Forestry Industry in Hudson Bay, SK. Later in life, she worked as an Early Childhood Development Worker at the Joe Duquette High School in Saskatoon, SK, where she worked until her retirement.
Betty enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time with family, listening to music and crocheting.
Betty passed away in the comfort of her family at the Royal Alexander Hospital, Edmonton, AB. She was united with the love of her life, Ervin Henry Desjarlais; her parents, Rosalie Quewezance and Mervin Kewistep; first husband, John David Bird; sons, Gordon and Dwayne; daughter, Deanna; sister, Nora and her brother, David.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her siblings: Mary Jane, John, Williard, Lawrence, Albert, Angela, Marjorie, Sheldon, Mark, Lisa, Nellie Crowe and Joe Crowe; nephew, Dale Chutsoff; daughters: Diane (Blaire), Delores (Brad), Danita, Denise (Barry), Donna and Jessica; sons, David and Daniel; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and great-grandsons, Talon and Cody; as well as many others she took under her wings throughout her life and called them her own.
The Wake commenced Monday, March 19, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., both from the Saulteauplex Hall, Key First Nation, SK, with Elder Joe Crowe officiating. Interment followed in the Traditional Indian Burial Grounds, Key First Nation, SK.
