BERG, Donald Marvin

1943 – 2021

It is with a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of a father and grandfather Don Berg on January 19, 2021 at the age of 77.

Leaves to mourn his son Robert Berg, grandsons Zach Berg and Brayden Berg, and granddaughter Janelle Berg. Predeceased by his other son Val Berg in July 2020. Also predeceased by his parents Val Sr. and Mary Berg and his first wife Lucielle in 1976. Also leaves to mourn his brother Dave (Chris) Berg, sisters Linda (Bill) and Valerie (Don), ex-wife Muriel Berg, and many nephews and nieces.

Don was an active supporter in the Edmonton community, with the Edmonton Oilers, Edmonton Eskimos, and Edmonton Tigers, all through his business Val Berg’s Men’s Wear. Don was very athletic in his younger years, playing football with the likes of Edmonton Wildcats, London Lords, Edmonton Eskimos, and Edmonton Tigers Rugby club. As he got older, his love for golf grew, and he played with many of his friends and took many golf trips. His other passion was motorcycles and snowmobiling, which he passed down to his sons Val and Rob and grandson Zach.

As per Don’s wishes, his body will be cremated and a family and friends gathering will be held at Evergreen Memorial at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in name of Don can be made directly to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation,

Don, Gord Hostland and myself were the 3 amigos who celebrated each others birthdays for years. When Gord told me the news said 1 down 2 to go a little football talk. Also ex Wildcat like Don. Also as tough guys skii’d Marmot Basin topless except for the wine skins strapped to our backs. God bless you Don!
