BAUMSTARK (nee LaPorte), Michelle Jo

With heavy hearts, and profound sadness, we announce the passing, far too soon, of Michelle Baumstark on Jan 27, 2022, at the age of 61 years. She passed at home, surrounded by family.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 41 years, Rick, their 3 children, Rob, Joe, and Tom; two grandchildren, RJ and Nela; sister Lori (Juergen) and mother Carrie.

Rick and Michelle were high school sweethearts and never lost their adoration for each other. Early years together were spent building their family, their home, and their great network of friends. Later years only strengthened what they built.

Michelle loved many things, but most of all, she had a deep love of family, and they of her. She enjoyed and excelled at crafts, particularly sewing, as well as shopping, golf, and traveling. She and Rick travelled to many countries, and they embraced a world of wonderous adventures together. She also loved her job with South Common Home Depot and joined them at the opening more than 20 years ago.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the palliative home care team, for their kindness and support during Michelle’s illness.

In keeping with Michelle’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

In these moments of loss of someone dear as Michelle to me is not easy to express the heartfelt sorrow that I feel in words .
I had14 fortunate years to work with Mitchell at south commons HomeDepot. She was a beautiful soul full of love and kindness .
She was there for me since the day I joined her in bookkeeping till the last day of my work. Her words “Trust me you will be ok “ and “I know you can do it” were fuel for me.
My teacher , my inspiration , and my mentor ascended to heaven away from us leaving loneliness and sadnesses , all we have memories that we have shared with her .
May the memories of Michelle help her family and friends find peace , someone so special can never be forgotten.
I believe that God will accept her with open arms for all the good she has done when she was on this earth.

I was fortunate Enough to have worked with our sweet Michelle for the last 17 years at the South Common Home Depot.

Michelle had such a vibrant personality. She lit up the room with her presence. We really enjoyed listening to her various interesting travel adventures around the world.

She was so dedicated and very passionate about her work at The Home Depot. Michelle was ever willing to extend a helping hand wherever needed. She was concerned about ladder safety throughout the store. She would help repair our co.puters and printers right away. She would help us fill in our TNAs ensuring that we got paid on time. Michelle will be dearly missed by all of us and South Commo Home Depot will never be the same without her.

I am so glad that I was able to plant a tree in her honor. She would often be concerned about wasting paper. I am sure she is smiling down at us from heaven as we plant all these beautiful trees.

Our condolences go out to Rick and the rest of her family and May God grant them the courage, patience and strength during this difficult time. May her Beautiful Soul Rest In Peace!

My heartfelt condolences and love to Rick and his family. Although I didn’t know Michelle very well, I often think of the time when she, Lori, and their Mom and Dad visited us when they were quite young. When we were about to eat lunch Michelle said to Lori, “Do I eat peas?” Lori told her she did so Michelle said, “Oh” and happily ate them up!

Michelle was a beautiful person inside & out, She always had a bright smile on her face that lit up everyone’s day. She was phenomenal, caring, compassionate, sincere, committed, full of life, integrity and so much more.

It has truly been an honour & an inspiration to have known Michelle & work with her for the past 13 years and to be part of our work-family. She has been a tremendous support to me & our entire Front End Team at South Common. She was very devoted and passionate about family & her work, which inspired us all & she loved helping others by always going above & beyond.

We will miss her dearly & she will always be remembered & forever will remain in our hearts!!

Our deepest condolences go out to her entire family, friends and everyone.

My deepest sympathy to Carrie, Lori, and Rick and the boys. What a ‘rock’ Lori has been through this entire ordeal. Big hugs to everyone.

A favourite memory of mine was visiting Art and Carrie when Michelle and I were teenagers. Michelle was so ‘sophisticated’ with stylish clothes, and closets full of leather jackets and boots. It was always such a treat to go home with black garbage bags full of Michelle’s hand-me-downs.

I’ll also miss her humorous stories of Home Depot antics, and the silly things that people would try to return.

She was taken from us far too early. I’ll miss you my dear cousin.

I was lucky enough to work with Michelle for over 20 years, she was a person you could count on, and came to my rescue on more than one occasion over the years, I also enjoyed the many conversations we had about family and travel. South Common will not be the same without her. My deepest condolences to Rick and the family

A beautiful, kind person gone too soon. Michelle had such a warm and calming presence – a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. To Rick and the family: Ryan and I send our love to you all during this difficult time. The world feels a little less bright with her not in it. With love and friendship, Elizabeth

I worked with Michelle for 10 years, and she was one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Her fierce dedication to her work and especially family was very inspiring! If you ever needed something, she was the one you could always count on. She loved her family and we spoke of them frequently. I will miss her amazing energy and her bright light. I am so sorry for your loss, she was one of the best souls around.
