Ingrid Margarete Barth (nee Hoppe)

July 20, 1928 – Magdeburg, Germany
October 31, 2022 – Edmonton, Alberta

The family of Ingrid Barth is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the age of 94. Ingrid passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Ingrid immigrated from Germany in 1952 and worked as a nurse in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. There she met her husband, Donald Barth. Ingrid enjoyed gardening, traveling, baking, and golf; all of which she loved sharing with her grandchildren. Over the years, she was the one person in our family who made sure we all stayed in touch.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Cauti (Piero), and her son, Douglas Barth (Diane); her four grandchildren Justin Cauti (Julie), Michaela Cauti, Carson Barth, and Nathan Barth.

Ingrid was predeceased by her husband (2007), and her brother Joe (2019).

She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, her friends, and her sisters-in-law Mary Ann Hoppe (Dallas), and Joan Barth (Edmonton).

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

To my Great Aunt Ingrid. I didn’t get to know her very well, but I do remember her big smile and how friendly she was! Colin and I really loved her tribute to our 25th anniversary video! It was so special to see her speaking to us via video a couple years ago. We will miss you. ❤

Aunty Ingrid was a big part of my life growing up. Cathy, I’m so thankful you brought her to our place for a visit this past year, we had some good laughs. I really enjoyed her visit, she was always so cheerful. I will think of her often.

Aunt Ingrid will be greatly missed. She was a very big part of our lives growing up. She was always trying new kitchen gadgets, cooking great meals, but most especially she always had some good German chocolates close at hand! Over the last many years she would call at Christmas time just to catch up. I’m really going to miss her.
