After a full life, Babs Sims passed away peacefully at Leduc Community Hospital on April 7, 2019. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John. Babs is survived by and lovingly remembered by her family whom she loved unconditionally through good times and difficult times. Missing her very much are her children Greg (Antonella), Linda and Judy, her grandchildren Derek (Irina), Kristin (Rich), Max (Heidi) and Jessica (Allan), her great-grandchildren Siena and Nixon, as well as ex-daughter-in-law Barb and ex-son-in-law Jebb.
Babs would tell everyone that she lived a wonderful life, mostly because it was a reflection of the way she approached life. She created a loving home in all the places she and John lived, homes where family and friends were always welcome. It was clear to all who saw her that throughout her life her greatest joy was to be surrounded by family; laughter, joking, love and cookies for all. She lived her life with boundless generosity, infinite kindness and a positive attitude that was felt by everyone who knew or met her. And she always found time to give back to the people and communities in which she lived.
Babs’ not-so-secret special love was for nature and the birds and animals that inhabited it. She spent part of her childhood on a farm, and after raising her family in Edmonton, she spent 30 wonderful years with John on their country acreage outside Millet, AB. Whether it was gardening or birdwatching, golfing or hiking/cross-country skiing in the back of her property with her dogs, Babs always had a huge grin on her face when she was outdoors.
She was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her and she will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Bab’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at the Lifestyles Options Retirement Community, 108 West Haven Drive, Leduc, AB.
Babs worked with and supported a wide range of charities, so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
