BAKER, Judy Lee

Judy Lee Baker, 68, of Edmonton AB, passed away on October 28, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Cancer.

Jude was born in New Westminster, BC. where she worked as an EMT and First Aid instructor. She moved to Edmonton to further her education obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Theology at Northwest Bible college. She continued her education by obtaining a certificate in Human Resource management at the University of Alberta. Jude worked for the Good Samaritan Society and CapitalCare before concluding her career as Benefits Administrator with the County of Strathcona.

Jude was passionate about camping (she was fortunate to experience this beautiful country from coast to coast), gardening (everyone enjoyed her tomatoes and her beautiful garden), teaching (certainly one of her greatest gifts – she made concepts easy to understand backing it up with well written handouts and handbooks) and finally writing (everyone relied on her expert editing and great ideas to clarify thoughts and ideas). No mention of golf (that was to be her retirement goal which was not meant to be).

Judy was preceded in death by her father Leslie Baker, her mother Phyllis Baker, and her brother Alan Baker. She is survived by her sisters Jo-Anne Hertzog and Betty Trerise, sister-in-law Ruth Baker, several nephews and nieces, and her roommate of several years, Sandra Troughton. She will be deeply missed by her family, dear friends, and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2, 780-432-8500,

I miss you Judy. I wish I could grab my phone and call you and hear your voice. It was an honour to meet you and to share with you couple of moments. Jakob misses Aunty Judy too.

Judy was truly a kind person, very knowledgeable and a good soul. She had such a great sense of humor. I truly enjoyed working with Judy. She will be missed. My deepest sympathy to her friends and family.

It was wonderful to get to know you in your last moments Judy. You can know someone a lifetime and not learn much, but I’ve learned valuable things in such a short time of knowing you. Rest well now.
