Arthur Edolf Petterson


It is with heavy hearts that the family of Art Petterson, announce the passing of their beloved husband, and father on Wednesday evening, May 9, 2018 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.


Art will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Ellen; son, Bruce, daughter, Sherryl of Edmonton, and brother, Norman (Anne) Pettersson of White Rock, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents, Edvard and Ardiva Pettersson, step-mother, Virginia (Kimenius), sister, Marie Melin and brother, Ken Pettersson.


Born and raised in Edmonton, Art attended Highlands Elementary-Junior High and Eastwood High School. A consummate salesman and people-person, he worked for Hallmark Cards (Coutts Canada) for over 30 years.


Art was a kind, honest and considerate man, always willing to help others. He was a life-long volunteer in the community; first as boy scout leader, then in the Edmonton Lion’s Club, Edmonton Scottish Society, and an active member of Kirk United Church. A long-time diabetic, Art was also involved in the CNIB diabetes awareness program. He loved to play cards and was quite the crib player, besting most he played.


He also enjoyed traveling and went to Europe many times with Ellen as well as to Australia and New Zealand and in later years to Hawaii.


A service celebrating Art’s life will take place on Saturday, May 26 at 1:30 pm at Canterbury Court, 8403 – 142 St, Edmonton. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
