Antonio “Tony” Manuel Silva Roveredo

1946 – 2015

Antonio Manuel Silva Roveredo, born on June 25, 1946 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2015. He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Rosa de Costa.

Tony will be greatly missed by his aunt, Cisaltina, from Ribeira Grande; uncle, Baltazar (Amelia), of Windsor, Ontario; brothers: Alfredo (Pat), Almerio (Kathleen), Augusto; sisters: Rosa, Natalia (Norberto); numerous nieces and nephews, as well as an extended family.

Tony is reunited with his parents, Antonio and Natalia, as well as his sweet baby sister, Rosa.

Tony met his beautiful and devoted wife in Winnipeg, where he won her heart by getting a haircut. He lost his thick, curly, long hair for love and happily kept it short for 40 years.

They moved to Edmonton in 1975. Tony worked in the Bumper repair business for 43 years. He was remembered as a dedicated and hard worker, always willing to help everyone and teach his fellow workers to do their best. He was respected and loved by all who worked with him.

Tony played soccer in his younger years and loved watching sports on TV. Spending time with family and friends while camping, playing cards, etc. was his greatest joy.

Tony suffered through many medical setbacks. In September of 2010, he underwent a liver transplant. Throughout the many months of painful recuperation, he never complained. He conducted himself with dignity and a positive attitude.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed. Forever he will remain in our hearts.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Serenity Funeral North Chapel, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta at 2:00 pm, with viewing 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the University of Alberta Hospital, 8440 – 112 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 2B7, towards organ and tissue transplantation.

Many thanks to the Liver Transplant Team, RN coordinators; May and Tammy at the University of Alberta Hospital and a heartfelt thank you to Julene.
