Anne Yuill (nee Reid)
December 13, 1917 – October 7, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Yuill (97) of Edmonton, formerly of Barrhead. She leaves to mourn her loss her loving children: Ed Yuill, Liz Emmerzael (Bill), Jean Yuill (Dick), daughter in law Elena Yuill. Much loved grandchildren Catherine, Michael, Peter, Clark, Melissa, Heather, Meagan, Graeme, Igor, 15 great grandchildren, sister in law Margaret (Yuill) Iggulden, many friends, nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband J.W. (Jack) Yuill in 1993 and her son John C. (Jack) Yuill on May 16th of this year.
Anne’s parents, Peter and Bessie Reid along with Anne’s older brother Bill, immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1907 and she and her sister Flo were born and raised in Edmonton. After their marriage, Jack & Anne lived in Barrhead for many decades and both were very involved in the community and raised all their children there. Over the years Anne loved her work as a legal secretary, doing recitations, singing and acting in the Barrhead Drama Society, her involvement with the Barrhead Legion Ladies Auxiliary, was a Sunday School teacher and S.S. Superintendent at the United church, CGIT leader, played bridge, curled, bowled, was involved in the Edmonton Heritage Club, Samba Club, several choirs and was an avid scrabble player to the end. Anne’s last job before retirement was for the Alberta Government as head secretary to the Deputy Attorney General which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Mom was dearly loved and her memory will live in our hearts forever. Visitation Oct.15 7-9pm: Serenity Funeral Home 5311 91 St Edmonton. Celebration of Life Oct.16 2pm: Ellerslie Road Baptist Church 10603 Ellerslie Road.
