Andrew Henry Cocquyt


It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Cocquyt announces his passing at the age of 84 years.

He is dearly missed and lovingly remembered by Diane, his wife of 42 years, children: Fletcher, Stuart, Denise, Guy (Sylvie) and Glen; sister Yvonne; grandchildren: Kristopher, Nicole, Alexander and Sasha; and great grandchildren: Jordan, Tyson and Karson; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Bernard; brother Maurice, sister Marguerite and daughter Gay.

Born on the family farm in Melita, Manitoba, Henry continued to keep close ties and fond memories with many still living there. Henry retired in 1991 after a dedicated 38 year career with Canadian National Railways. He kept physically active well into his seventies, enjoying curling, travel, golf and badminton. A favourite past time was to play cribbage with anyone at any opportunity.

Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In retirement, Henry greatly enjoyed volunteer driving. In memory of Henry, donations may be made to the Lifestyle Helping Hands Seniors Association, 10740-19 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T6J 6W9, or to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 1Z2, in lieu of flowers.
