It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alf on December 1, 2019 at the age of 87.
He will be forever remembered by his wife Marlene of 55 years, Roxanne, Jim, Jamie and Amy Whitefield, Barry and Darlene Graumann, Cheryl-Ann, Mike, Patrick Vanessa, Keira, Shawn, Kyle, Tavia, Bryler, Carwyn and Everlei McMurray
Alf was an automotive mechanic for 40 years, he specialized in transmissions. Alf loved curling, hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He loved working on older vehicles that did not have any computer chips to deal with. Alf was known in the neighborhood to many always tinkering on lawn movers, trimmers and various vehicles. Most of all he remolded a red jeep for his grand daughters which they loved and cruised for many hours in the neighborhood. Grandpa could be seen in the stands, bleachers or side lines of many sports and drama productions his grand sons participated in. Dad attended our school concerts when we were kids (he did not always sing the correct words to the songs which made everyone around him chuckle). He could always find away to make things work when they were broken even better than before.
Cremation has taken place, as requested by the family there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date with family.
As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions my be made in Alf’s name to St Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital Blue Jay Gardens 10707 29 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6J 6W1 or donors choice.
The family express grateful thanks for the compassionate care and comfort provided by all the staff of Blue Jay Gardens as we as all the other great staff of St Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital for the care provided over the past 4 years.
