Albert Rivera Giralao died at home Monday morning, April 8, 2019, on his 58th birthday. His expressed wish was to die at home, with his loved ones holding his hands. And so it was that he did not die alone.
Albert worked a few years at Banco Davao before being employed as a medical representative of Merrell Dow which later merged with Glaxo SmithKline, Philippines. He immigrated to Canada with his family. In Edmonton, he worked at Walmart Supercentre where he gained his “Canadian experience” and developed meaningful friendships with his co-associates.
Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Rosalia, and his children, Ralph and Paullene. Albert will also be fondly remembered by his brothers, Joseph (Jolette) and Arvin (Aleli), sister-in-law, Imelda, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
Albert was predeceased by his mother Esperanza, father Atanacio and brother Andrew.
A viewing in memory of Albert will be held on Friday, April 12, at 4:00 – 9:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Service (10129 Princess Elizabeth Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 0X9).
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Basilica (10044 113 St, Edmonton, AB T5K 1N8), with Rev. Robert Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Westlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery (16310 Stony Plain Rd, Edmonton, AB T5P 4A6). Pall bearers will be AJ, Arvin, Bernardo, Jhun, Niño, and Ralph.
