Albert Peter Milley

We celebrate the life of Mr. Bert (Albert Peter) Milley, who passed away peacefully on December 2, 2014 at the age of 76 years. Bert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His bright and charming way enabled him to connect with many people throughout his career and personal life.Bert was born in Badger, Newfoundland on March 31, 1938 to Albert W. and Maude Milley and was the middle of three children. He then lived in Grand Falls, Newfoundland for many years before moving to Alberta with his wife and children in 1979. It was the oil boom of that time that brought them out west and Alberta gradually became their home.Bert primarily spent his career in heavy equipment sales for forestry, mining and trucking operations in central Newfoundland, Alberta and northern Manitoba.Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Verna Jean Milley, who passed away August 5, 2014, Bert is survived by his son Roger Milley (and daughter-in-law Karen Rawson); by his daughter Elizabeth Oplanich (and son-in-law John Oplanich); by his six dearly loved grandchildren (all whom called him Poppy), Michael Oplanich, Natalie Oplanich, Ariana Oplanich, Kyle Milley, Jake Milley and Monique Milley; by his sister Rev. Eileen Irish (and brother-in-law Peter Irish).A memorial service for Bert will be held on Saturday December 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Serenity Funeral Service 10129 Princess Elizabeth Ave., Edmonton, AB.Bert’s immediate family would especially like to thank the staff of St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre; the staff of the Royal Alexandra Hospital; Dr. Janet Chiu and Dr. Peter Hum for their wonderful care.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.See or call 1-800-661-2262 – See more at:
