We will never hear her voice on the phone again, but her voice will live on in our hearts and minds. With gentle relief and great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother Aileen. Born and raised in a heritage home in Calder, Aileen’s love for the arts started at a young age. As a child, she sang and danced. As an adult she taught piano, played the guitar and belly danced. In her late 70’s she started painting watercolours. She encouraged these passions in her children and grandchildren.
Aileen was predeceased by her parents William and Dilys Rankin, her sister Joyce McKone, and one year ago by her beloved husband of 61 years Fenton Alty. Aileen will be greatly missed by her sister Gail Rankin; her children: Frances Alty-Arscott (Nick), George Alty (Janet), Terence Alty (Belva Rode), Jane Willey (Robert), Morgan Alty, and Cheryl Alty. Grandchildren; Patrick Alty, James Alty (Natasha) of Hamilton, Jeffrey Arscott (Desiree), Megan Alty (Trevor), Lauren Arscott (Matthew), Kayla Willey, Sara Alty (John), Dylan Alty, Jared Willey, and Christian Rode; great grandson Clark Alty; and family friends Steve Rees (Jennifer); as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will not be a service at her request. There will be a family gathering to celebrate Aileen’s life at a later date. No flowers please.
