Surrounded by his loved ones, Neil passed away on a bright December 9, 2016 afternoon, from pneumonia, a complication of Alzheimer’s, at the age of 88.
Neil was born and raised on a ranch near Eastend, Saskatchewan. He began his career in the RCMP, and rode in the Musical Ride. Later he was a plumber, then he finished his working life back on a farm. During his retirement, he and Susan enjoyed travelling, spending time with each other and their family. There was never a problem he couldn’t solve.
Mourning his loss, and holding his hand when he died, is his wife of 66 years, his beloved Susan. Also left to mourn his loss are his 9 children: Katherine, Thomas (Pam), Bridget (Robert) Raynard, Rosemary (Michael) Owens, Elizabeth (Francois) Hebert, Barbara (Brian) Tardif, Georgia (Ken) Hunsley, Andrea and Michaela (Dave Regner). His eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren will also miss him very much. Neil was predeceased by his daughter Maria.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will follow in the spring.
The family would like to thank the third floor staff at Good Samaritan Southgate for their care and support these last 2½ years.
When you were born you cried and everyone rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die everyone cries and you rejoice.
