Witt, Camilla Lynn, Q.C. left us on November 22, 2016, at the age of 62 years.
Camilla leaves behind her husband, Bert; children: Alex (Kristi), Adam, Katrina (Brendan); her mother Isabelle Bain; brothers: Vince, Ritchie, Cameron and Duncan Bain, and two grandchildren.
Camilla was called to the bar in 1979 and for over 25 years worked for Alberta Justice. Among her accomplishments was her work toward bringing mediation to Alberta’s courts, including facilitating and overseeing the creation of the Provincial Civil Claims Mediation program, and the consultation that led to the creation of the Court of Queen’s Bench Civil Mediation Program. She also taught mediation and acted as a mediator for many years. Peace-making was only one of her passions, though. Her others were her family, her Christian faith, the environment, and yoga.
Camilla was grateful for the excellent care she received and expressed her particular thanks the Cross Cancer Institute, Dr. Joy, Dr. Manca, Dr. Cernohorsky, the staff at Unit 5C4 at the University Hospital, and her family.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Camilla’s life will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Edmonton (10014 – 81 Ave NW) on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1.30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Camilla would appreciate donations to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in her memory. If you would like, please share memories of Camilla with her family by email at [email protected].
