Herta Guse of Edmonton, Alberta passed away suddenly at 81 years of age on July 25, 2016. She was born in Wolhynien, Poland on July 7, 1935 to a very humble farming family. Herta met her loving husband, Emanuel Guse, in 1956 in Krefeld, Germany and they were married in 1958. They moved to Canada in 1969 and settled in the Edmonton area with their three children. Herta’s fondness for sewing, gardening, and baking will always be remembered by her family as well as her strong faith in Christ.
Herta was very involved in the Southside Pentecostal church community, as she sang in the German choir for many years and attended bible study weekly. She could always be counted on to bring “kuchen” to any event that required a sweet, homemade treat. She was always busy working in the yard or in the kitchen but would gladly put her tasks on hold to welcome visitors who showed up at any time of the day. In addition to her husband, Emanuel, Herta is survived by children, Jurgen (Ruth) and Karla (Gordon); 6 grandchildren: Jordan (Emily), Chelsie (Eric), Stefan (Rebekah), Brendan (Andrea), Justin (Allie) & Joshua; and three great- grandchildren: Everett, Maria and Olivia. She was predeceased by her daughter, Petra (Keith).
The funeral will be held at Southside Pentecostal Assembly, 2821 109 St NW, Edmonton, AB on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at 2:00 p.m at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
