Amundson, Daniel Torrie

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Torrie Amundson on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021, at his home south of Sedgewick, Alberta at the age of 74. Dan will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 33 years, Harriet Amundson, and his daughters Madelaine, Samantha, and Emma.

Dan was born on February 3, 1947, at Birch Hills, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm near Amisk, Alberta. He later moved to the Merna area near Sedgewick, Alberta after marrying his wife Harriet where they raised their three daughters. His passions included dispatching for his truck company, talking on the phone with friends and family, farming, hunting in his younger years, spending time with his wife and daughters, eating endless amounts of ice cream, playing with his grand dog Denali, watching the Edmonton Oilers hockey games, and of course bugging and joking with his daughters relentlessly.

Dan was predeceased by his parents Torrie and Erma Amundson. Dan is survived by his loving wife Harriet, daughters Madelaine, Samantha (Brad), Emma, siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Thank you to the wonderful and compassionate staff at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for the nearly 10 years of care for Dad. A special thank you to Dr. Holger Bucholz for his tireless support, compassion, and caring nature, you will never know how much your support meant to us or Dad. It is because of your dedication, the VAD team, and Dad’s resiliency and hopefulness that we were able to spend nearly an additional 10 years with him. We will miss our visits with his doctors and nurses who became family to us over the many years of continuous care and support for our family.

A private graveside service to celebrate his life and memory will be held at Sedgewick Seventh Day Adventist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (University Hospital Foundation.
