Clare Broeksma passed away October 3rd, 2019 at the age of 75.

He was born in Enschede, Netherlands, in 1944 to parents Albert and Egbertje (Eggy) Broeksma, and came to Canada in 1951.

Clare was proud to have had a career as a cable splicer, but after retirement finally had time to chase is life-long dream of being a knife-maker. He had a passion for knife-making, and met the most wonderful community of friends while pursuing that craft. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter; a pastime he enjoyed along with his family.

He is survived by his wife Faye, two children (Kerry and Clinton) and their spouses (Gregg and Deanne), four grandchildren (Heather, Evan, Ella, and Connor) and his three sisters (Emmy, Jessi, and Liz).

There will be no memorial service; condolences can be expressed through Serenity Funeral Service. In memory of Clare, donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Foundation.

Faye, I am so sorry to hear of Clare’s passing. I think of him every time I use the knife he gave to me …. which is often …. and remember the good times we all had together. Hope it helps to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.
