It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Toyo Turner. Toyo left us peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2019, at the age of 59.
In addition to being a mother, Toyo was also a Community Disability Counselor who had recently celebrated 35 years of employment with Catholic Social Services. Toyo was passionate about her job, reading, and raising her eight-year-old twin girls.
Toyo will be missed and forever remembered by her surviving children, Joanne and Lisa. Her memory will also be shared by her uncles, Dennis (June) Turner, Harry (Geraldine) Turner, Doug (Fern) Smith, Jim (Jeannette) Smith (all from Ontario), Rod (Vaughn) Smith (from California), and Frank (Lynn) Smith (from British Columbia), as well as numerous cousins, coworkers, and friends.
Toyo was predeceased by her mother Margaret Helen Turner (nee Smith), her father William Montague Turner, her brother Lieutenant William (Bill) Montague Turner (Royal Canadian Artillery), her aunt Joan (Ted) Wallace, and her beloved cat, Misty.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on May 25, 2019, at 2:00 pm at St. Patrick’s Anglican Church (334 Knottwood Road North) followed by a reception where a light lunch and refreshments will be served.
Toyo will be interred in Ontario alongside her brother Bill at a private family service.
