Agnes Ilene Waddell

On Monday July 02, 2018 with great sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Ilene Waddell at the age of 86 years. Living in Edmonton, AB and formerly of Stony Plain, AB.

Ilene will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family Glenn (Roxanne) Waddell, Allen (Karen) Waddell, David (Karen) Waddell, Lisa (Francis-Waddell), and Donald Waddell. Mom was loved and cherished by her four grandchildren Travis (Terese), Trent (Melissa), Melissa, and Amanda. One great granddaughter, Lilah Waddell.

Ilene was predeceased by her husband Calvin John Waddell as well as parents Henry and Sophie Struve, and siblings Ruth, Herbert, Edward Struve , and Dorothy Kozyra (Struve).

Mom always mentioned her strong daily moral support from great friends in Margaret Englert, Stan Kozyra, Warren Waddell and so many other family and friends she kept in her heart in life.

Mom was born in Onoway, AB. She married her fun loving husband Calvin Waddell and they began raising a young family in Stony Plain. Tragically upon the loss of Calvin in 1969, Ilene moved to Edmonton, AB in 1972 to continue raising her 5 children with her strong will and fun loving temperament. Mom worked very hard her entire life planting a big garden and sacrificing for her children whom she loved with all her heart. All who new and understood Ilene admired her energy, vitality and ability to overcome adversity. She was an excellent homemaker, old school cook, loved to dance and always cherished her cat. Mom found travel time meeting people in Japan, China, Poland, USA and for years made time to pack up the truck camper spending family time with the Kozyra’s in B.C. and one long trip to Nova Scotia. Ilene lived life to the fullest with family and friends.

A family Celebration of Life to honour Ilene will take place at a later date in the Heather Down Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Calvin Waddell for eternity.
