Annabel Coghill Johnston


Annabel was born in the fishing town of Wick, Scotland on November 25th 1934. She was the fourth of five children born to Annie Coghill (Seamstress) and John Dunnett, (shoemaker).

While studying to become a nurse at Peel Hospital near Galashiels, she met and fell in love with her husband to be, Gordon Douglas Johnston. (1932-2008)

In November 1959, they immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta where Gordon had accepted a physiotherapist job at Workers Compensation Board.

In 1961, twin children were born, Grahame and Joanna.

Annabel’s love of nursing spanned 36 years working at the Misericordia Hospital, University of Alberta Hospital, and the Cross Cancer Clinic.

Her passions in life where her friends and family, water colour painting, gardening, cooking, and traveling.

Sadly, on February 28th, 2017, Annabel lost her life to cancer at the age of 82.

A celebration of Annabel’s life will be held May 3, 2017 at The Centre for Spiritual Living located at 7621 -101Ave at 2 pm.
