-

After a brief illness Bill passed away peacefully with his wife Sonia by his side. He leaves a large family to mourn his loss.
Bill is survived by his wife Sonia. Bill is also survived by his sons: Brian (Cindy), Jim (Sharon), Lynn and Lori (Grant); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Peter and family and his first wife Mildred; Sonia’s sisters: Emma Bocalig and Lita (Eddie) Domingo, her brother Ray (Cherrie) Bocalig. He was Uncle Bill and Lolo Bill to many.
Bill was predeceased by his sisters: Easther, Theresa and granddaughter Tania.
Bill was born in Dublin, Ireland and upon finishing school he moved to England where he completed his apprenticeship as a tailor. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and later married Mildred (Metz). Their four children were born as they moved progressively west. In B.C. he worked as a stockbroker for many years before working as an equipment operator in mining/construction.
In 1979 he moved to Edmonton to start anew and returned to his first passion tailoring. He worked for many years at Henry Singer and Sam Abouhassan. He met Sonia and in 1986 they married. He was warmly welcomed by her family and they developed a large circle of friends. Bill was especially grateful to the many visitors that came in the past few weeks to say goodbye.
Our family thanks all the staff on Unit 53 and 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital, as well as the doctors Hartt, Hanelt and Vasanji, for their kind, compassionate care that helped ease Bill into his next journey.
