BURKE, Christopher
On May 19, 2010, Chris Burke passed away suddenly at the age of 29 years. Lovingly remembered by his spouse Tatiana Gennaro, mother Linda Burke, brother Eric Burke, grandparents Harold and Grace Burke as well as many family and friends. A Gathering will be held on Tuesday May 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Life Centre, 10123 — Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB. BAKER, Germaine (Nee; Noyen)
On May 15, Germaine Baker passed away peacefully at home in her favorite chair at the age of 94. Left to cherish the memory of this persevering and independent lady are her daughter, Caroline (Bob) Fenske; her three sons: John (Linda), Jim and Joseph Baker; her son-in-law Alvin Fenske; her seven grandchildren: Theresa Shewchuk, Michael (Jackie) Shewchuk, Brian (Zoryana) Shewchuk and Alexandra Shewchuk, Kris and Brett Baker, and Chad (Trina) Fenske; five great-grandchildren: Mary and Bridget Shewchuk, Maxim Shewchuk, Cassidy and Colton Fenske; and two sisters: Helen Hanscom and Louise Nolan. Germaine was predeceased in 1986 by her husband of 46 years, Earl Baker; daughter Marlene Shewchuk Fenske in 2003; grandson Robb Fenske in 1998; her brother Charles Noyen in 1982; and her sister Elizabeth Vervynck in 2007. The Mass of The Resurrection will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 107 Street and Whyte (82) Avenue, Edmonton, on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. MACNEIL, (MANCA) Augustina (Tina)
August 1, 1921 — May 18, 2010 Tina passed away peacefully with family by her side.She is survived by sons Rick (Linda) and Garry (Kathy), daughters Linda and Angie (Keith), nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and her brother John Coli of Calgary.She was predeceased by her infant daughter Antionette, her husband John (Jack) in 2008, and her first husband Pat Manca in 1975. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010, both at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 5105 45A Street, Leduc, AB. An amazing Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma and friend. WEGNER, Jeffrey Mark
On Sunday, May 16, 2010 Jeffrey Mark Wegner passed away at the age of 36 years. Jeffrey is survived by his loving parents: Jonathan (Joe) and Shirley Wegner; brothers: Doug (Leanna) and children Katherine, Jason, Randy (Lynetta) and children Jenaya, Chad, grandparents Irwin and Margaret Shade and special family friend Auntie Fran, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends. Jeffrey was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Gustav and Mathilda Wegner, (Opa and Oma). MESSERSCHMIDT, Kay (Stordeur)
April 1, 1940 — May 15, 2010 On May 15, 2010, Kay passed away at the Leduc Hospital of cancer. Sadly missed by her loving family, daughters, Vivian (Darrell) Soch, Shirley Mischuk and Wanda Pietrzyk; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; loving sister Eleanor (Arnie) Weber; sister-in-laws Helen Knutson and Marilyn Braunstein; mother-in-law Stella Messerschmidt and brother-in-law Adam Srayko. Predeceased by first husband and father of her children Walter Mischuk, loving husband Rene Stordeur and dear husband John Messerschmidt; parents, Nick and Benoraa Knutson; four brothers and four sisters. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Rollyview, Alberta with a private family burial. Artur Hartke of Leduc, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his loving wife Herta, daughter Ingrid (Murray), son Rudy, and two grandsons Justin and Patrick. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Wilhelm and Natalia, his sister Linda and brother-in-law Julius. On Wednesday, May 5, 2010 Gus Tremblay of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years. Gus will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jocylen, six sons; Dyuanne (Karin), Guy, Ben (Janice), Dan (Barb), Ron (Denise) and Kevin (Corrinne), two daughters; Joanne (Al) Eikeland and Cheryl Nish, 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the mother of his children and first wife Fleur, two brothers, five sisters, and a granddaughter. SCHULZ, Kunigunde Elizabeth Barbara Anna
September 8, 1926 — May 12, 2010 Mrs. Kunigunda Schulz of Edmonton passed away at the age of 83 years. She leaves behind her children: Ingrid, Norbert (Erica), Gerald (Brenda), Arno (Laurel), Benita (Helmut); and several grandchildren. Gunda was predeceased by her husband, Julius, in October 2009 and two children, Doris and Reinhard. There will be a viewing at Serenity Funeral Service — Edmonton South (5311 — 91 Street, Edmonton) from 12:00 — 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Millwoods Shepherds Care Nursing Home for all their care and compassion.

On May 5, 2010 Bill Readman passed away peacefully at the age of 70 years. OBIREK, Angela Regina
April 22, 1915 — May 1, 2010 Angela passed away peacefully in Edmonton at 12:45 a.m., at age 95 with Carla Yustak, her Granddaughter and Caregiver at her side. Angela grew up in Winnipeg, moved to B.C. in 1974, then to Edmonton in 1979. The oldest of five children of Frank and Mary Benderski, founders of Benderski’s Grocery on Jamieson & Watt in East Kildonan. Pre-deceased by husband, Walter, in 1978; brothers, Joseph (Chris), Norbert and George (Sadie) Benderski; Sister, Anne (Howard) Daman-Willems, all of Winnipeg. Angela was a member of Holy Ghost, St. Alphonsus, St. John Cantius and St. Anthony parishes in Winnipeg. Owner of many grocery businesses as well as a seamstress, tailor and hairdresser. Bridge playing, travel, family and friends were her love of life. A member of St. Theresa’s Parish, St. Thomas More Parish and the Strathcona Senior Club in Edmonton. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter in Edmonton, Joanne (Ron) Yustak, sons in Winnipeg, Richard (Pat) Obirek; Kenneth (Sharon) Obirek; grandchildren, Judy (Brian Read) Obirek, Tim (Bonnie) Obirek, Laura Obirek; Taryn (Brian) Plester, Carla Yustak, Dean (Bobbie) Yustak, Kory (Britta) Yustak, Kim (Jason) Cassils, Amy (Dave) Blatz; great-grandchildren, Cortney and Madison Obirek, Ben Obirek; Garrett Plester, Connor and Paige Yustak; Rianna and Mia Cassils; Sophie, Molly and Abby Yustak. Thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton and Dr. Peters for the care Angela received the past five years. Thanks to doctors and nurses at the U of A Hospital, Emergency and Orthopedic unit for her recent care. Cremation will be followed by a Memorial Mass in Edmonton, on Wednesday, May 12, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Theresa’s Parish, 7508 — 29 Avenue in Millwoods with Father Leo Floyd officiating. On Wednesday, June 30, in Winnipeg, a Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Parish, 250 Burrin Avenue, followed by internment at Holy Ghost Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
MARTZ, John Edward
March 5, 1936 — May 9, 2010 After a courageous battle with leukemia, John Martz went to be with his Lord.John is survived by his loving family: his wife of 53 years, Ruth; his children: Melanie (Geordie) Sinclair, Marlene (Jeff) Eastwood, Wendy (Marlin) Giesbrecht; six grandchildren: Hayden and Brittany Sinclair, Jeremy, Miranda and Lauren Eastwood and Reign Giesbrecht. He is also survived by his siblings: Ernest, Lily, Dorothea, Hilda, Hedy and Rebecca. Predeceased by his parents, brother Carl and sister Lydia. John loved music and used his gift of singing and playing guitar throughout his life. Since 1963 he was tenor and guitarist with the Kingsmen Quartet. A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at West Edmonton Christian Assembly, 6315 — 199 Street, Edmonton. August 7, 1930 — May 9, 2010 On May 9, 2010, Noreen Shirley Desjardines of Edmonton passed away. She is survived by her family: daughter, Colleen, granddaughter, Danielle, son, Graydon, and his wife, Yvonne, and their children, Elise, Garth, Chad, Rhett (Enchantra, Rhyse and Gabriella); as well as Pat, Carla, and James Loree, and many other relatives and friends. Noreen was predeceased by her husband, Larry, her brothers, Garry, Bill, and Edgar, and her loving sister, Marguerite. A Celebration of Noreen’s Life will be held at her home on Thursday, May 13, 2010 beginning at 3:00 p.m. Family, friends, and well wishers are all welcome to attend.

Peacefully with her family by her side Irene Bellringer aged 79 years passed away. She leaves to cherish her memory her children William (Kay), Gerald (Doreen), Christine (Russell), Lawrence (Andrea) and Robert (Karren) as well as 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers Lloyd and Bobby as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. On Saturday, May 8, 2010 Ella Gutknecht of Leduc passed away at the age of 86 years. Ella is survived by her loving family; one daughter, Darlene (Frank) Crawford and one son, Dennis (Lorraine) Gutknecht, six grandchildren; Cassie (Haven Elliot) Crawford, Chris (Cindy) Crawford, Alana (Jordon) Paul, Kayla Gutknecht, Nicole (Kevin) Hayduk and Jordan Gutknecht, four great-grandchildren; Riley, Corbin and Cole Hayduk and Cash Crawford; one sister, Eleanor (Roy) Shepard and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ella was predeceased by her husband Otto, one son Norman, four brothers and two sisters. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. Much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away May 6, 2010 at the age of 85 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband Alex; daughter Jeanette, son Glenn. She is survived by daughter Irene; brothers Stanley (Marge), Chester (Josie) and George (Jeanette); sisters, Wanda (Andy Fedor), Margorie (Val Klein); grandchildren Colleen Lawrence, Marty Lawrence (Kym), Corey Prysko, Trevor Prysko (Jessica), Neil Super; great-grandchildren Gregory Prysko, Morgan Lawrence, Kyle Lawrence, Travis Prysko, Madison Prysko, and Kaylee Prysko; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. Special thanks to the caring, dedicated staff and volunteers of the Extendicare and Leduc Hospital for your care of Jennie; she was treated with dignity, patience, good humor, and affection. He was predeceased by his spouse Darlene, brother Bernie, sister Lorraine and his parents Sarah and Jim Dobbin.
