KOTYK, John

1931 — 2010 Mr.John Kotyk of Redwater, Alberta passed away on March 19th, 2010 at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth, two sons Richard and Douglas, three grandchildren Sabrina, Kurtis and Zachary, one great-granddaughter Reagan and numerous relatives and friends. John was predeceased by his parents Yakim and Rosie, one brother William. The family wish to thank the staff of the Shepherds Care Centre in Millwoods and staff at the Jubilee Nursing Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Serenity Funeral Service (North Central Chapel), 10129 Princes Elizabeth Avenue. JOHNSTONE, Hazel Rita Joann

 Peacefully on March 15, 2010 Mrs Rita Joann Johnstone of Edmonton passed away at the age of 74 years. Rita Joann will be lovingly remembered by her husband Willard, their five sons: Gary of Devon, Blair of Edmonton, Ronald (Tanya) of Spruce Grove, Wayne (Wanda) of Edmonton, and Darcy (Dena) of Gunn, Alberta and nine grandchildren. Rita Joann is also survived by her sister Lois (Norm) Ratledge of Barrhead and brother Jim (Shirley) Lowen of Camrose, and her daughter-in-law Judith of Fort Saskatchewan. Rita Joann was predeceased by her brother Laddie and her granddaughter Paige. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Richmond Park Church (9340–69 Avenue, Edmonton). JACOBI, Melanie Ellen

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dearest Melanie, who passed away at age 45 on March 11, 2010 after a courageous struggle with cancer. The pain she endured is no more. Melanie’s family was fully supportive during her illness, and was at her side day and night during the final week. Melanie was predeceased by Kevin, Tyler’s father, and her father Ed Jacobi. She is lovingly remembered and cherished by her son Tyler, Mark — her kindred spirit and knight in shining armor, her mother Doris, sister Laurianne, brother Lance, (Doris’ nieces Ashley and Taryn), niece Tonya (Jim, Natalie and Emillie) her Godmother Pauline McLean, and all who loved her dearly. She will be sorrowfully missed. In keeping with Melanie’s wishes, a private family Memorial will be held in celebration of her life. FIX, Lorraine

 On Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Norwood Capital Care Centre, Lorraine Fix aged 59 years passed away. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Trina Mika (Dave) as well as her siblings. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

BANDURA, Bennie Ernest

Bennie Ernest Bandura loved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully March 18, 2010 at the age of 76. He was born August 14, 1933 in Mundare, Alberta to wonderful parents Peter and Annie Bandura. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, his children Sandy Hornsby (Jeff), Kim, Ben Burton and his grandson Brady. He also leaves behind his sister Margaret Booth and brother Henry (Joy) and their families. Ben’s career in Men’s Wear was one to be remembered. His love of the game of golf and the attention and care he always gave to family and friends will never be forgotten. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Parish (10661 82 Avenue, Edmonton) on March 25, 2010 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

ATKINSON, Alice

 On March 17, 2010, Alice Atkinson of Edmonton passed away at the age of 91 years. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, James W. (Bill) Atkinson; son David (Terry), daughter Pauline (Jim) Marshall; grandchildren: Jonathan Atkinson, Zachary Atkinson (Talia Koziak), Corey Marshall (Karen McCardle),Ryan (Devon) Marshall; great-grandchildren: Peri McCardle, Lily Marshall, Levi Marshall, Londyn Marshall, Brynn Marshall. Alice is also survived by her two sisters: Gladys Campbell and Audrey Kadlec. She was active in lawn bowling, square dancing and with the South West Senior Choir. Alice served in the Royal Air Force from 1941 — 45. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 11223 — 51 Avenue, Edmonton, with Pastor Tim Posyluzny officiating. TROUTH, Patricia (Nee: Brownlee)

June 1922 — March 2010

 A bright, shining light has gone out. A wonderful artist, Pattie lived her life to the fullest, laughed often, loved well, and was well loved. Lovingly mourned by her spouse, Les Passmore; sister Connie; brother Richard; daughter Roxann; son Lee; grandchildren: Melissa, Megan, Fraser, Trisha and Kyle; great-grandson Oliver; best friend Lucille-Yvonne Jackson; constant companion Panda; and many other family and friends. Predeceased by her son Tony; brother Ralph and sister Sunny. A Celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 in the Darwin Room, Radisson Hotel, 4400 Gateway Boulevard, Edmonton. SULLIVAN, Maxine Louise (Nee: Baxter)

August 30, 1957 — March 18, 2010

Maxine will be greatly missed by her daughter Michelle (Brad Hick) and granddaughter Brooklyn of Grande Prairie, parents Edith and Harry Baxter (Richmond, BC), brothers Stephen (Burnaby, BC), Bruce (Kathy) (Breslau, ON) and Edwin (Georgina) (Seshelt, BC), sisters Jocelyn (Mark) (Bridgewater, NS) and Angela (Mike) (Truro, NS) and Grandmother Clara McLean (New River Beach, NB). Lovingly remembered by cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends. Maxine had a generous and loving heart. She will be forever remembered and loved by all those whose lives she touched. The family would like to extend thanks to special friend Roxy Kirkby, and the staff at Unit 43, Grey Nuns Community Hospital, and Dr. Grace Bokenfohr. HARSCH, Judith

On March 10, 2010, Judy died of a heart attack at the Leduc General Hospital at the age of 55.  She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Heuser, brother-in-law Walter, nephew and nieces Jordan, Katrina, and Lauren.  She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Edith, and brother Danny.  A memorial service, with lunch to follow, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 20th, in the Salem Manor chapel area.  Many thanks go out to the wonderful staff at Salem Manor for their many years of care for Judy and to Dr. Simard for his attention to her medical needs.

SCHULTZ, Burnell (Bernie)

Burnell (Bernie) passed away March 13, 2010 at the age of 76 years. He leaves to remember his passing his wife: Ann, three children: one son Rick (Corinne), two daughters: Dianna (John) Kril, Cathy Cruise, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Harold (Mary), and one sister, Diane (Allan) Hauser. MAJELSKI, Laura

Laura Majelski of Leduc, Alberta passed away on March 8, 2010 at the Leduc General Hospital at the age of 91. She is survived by her husband Peter Kenakin, daughter, Fran Raduenz, grandsons Chris (Mona) Richards, of Millet, AB, Daniel (Lynn) Richards of Plainsboro, N. J. and grandchildren Joshua, Ryan and Jeanine. She was predeceased by her brothers Peter and Allan. Cremation has taken place, the Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. GREEN, Douglas Forbes

 November 19, 1923 — March 12, 2010 Douglas has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour whom he loved and served. He died after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 86 years. He will be remembered by Janette, his loving wife of 65 years; his children: David (Linda), Margaret (Roger), Douglas and Richard; grandchildren: Jennifer (Paul), Mark (Clare), Sheridan (Joel), Emily, Alexandra and Lucas; and great grandchildren Liam, Zachary, Sarah and Matthew. He was predeceased by two infants at birth and his sons Robert and Donald, and three grandchildren: Hilary, Miranda and Sean. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Strathcona Care Centre for their love and care of Doug in his final days. FANDRICK, Donna Mariann (Nee; Pyrch)

 While surrounded by family in the early hours of March 14, 2010, Donna Mariann Fandrick (nee Pyrch) of Leduc went to be with the Lord at the age of 63 years. This most gracious and kind woman leaves to grieve her husband Edward of 48 years, son Eldon (Lana) and grandchildren Ian, Jocelyn, and Jayden, son Donald, sister Natalie (Eddie) Jensen of Claresholm, brother Orest (Donna) Pyrch of Langley BC, sister Lynda (Denny) Anderson of Spruce Grove and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Donna was predeceased by her son David in 2002 and parents Katherine and Samuel Pyrch of Calmar. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. and a Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010, both at the Devon Alliance Church, Highway 60 and Miquelon Avenue, Devon, Alberta with Pastor Larry Froese officiating. DENBOER, Ronald Peter

 October 2, 1956 — March 12, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ron. Beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend. Ron was born in Stratford, Ontario and resided in Edmonton for the past 25 years. Ron was passionate about spending time with his friends and family over a game of tennis or Eukre. Ron left his mark of generosity and friendship on all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Tina, his two sons, Jaymeson Ronald and Matheson Bertus, (and their mother Beatrice McMillan), his mother, Joan, his sister, Shirley and his brother, Bob. Ron was predeceased by his father, Bert. Ron was a passionate land and community developer who started his career in Ontario, and left his thumbprint on the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas. He was enthusiastically involved in many community and charity events. A private family visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. at Beulah Alliance Church, 17504–98 A Avenue, Edmonton, followed by a public visitation from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Following the visitation the funeral service will commence at 2:00 p.m. with lunch to follow in the atrium. ARNOLD, Minnie Rene

March 31, 1923 — March 15, 2010 After a full life of loving service to her family as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother, Minnie has moved on to her eternal reward at age 86. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by: her husband Lawrence; daughters: Karen (Wayne) Rothe, Nova Gould (Randy Swanston), Cheryl (Marc) Fenske; grandchildren: Nathan, Aaron, Jordan, Becky, Chelsea, Mariah, Kassandra; and great-grandchildren. Minnie’s life of public service as a pastor’s wife, school teacher, church worker and volunteer touched many lives. Her cheerful smile and encouraging words uplifted, inspired and blessed those around her as she endeavored to fulfill her God directed goal of helping others. SMITH, Malcolm Stewart

 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Malcolm Stewart Smith on March 8, 2010. He is survived by his wife Leah; children Michelle and Micheal; his parents Stewart and Lorna Smith; sisters-in-law: Carmen (Lawrence), Cori (Nevin) and Heather; also numerous friends, nieces, and nephews. Malcolm was predeceased by his twin sister Mary-Jean.  On March 8, 2010 Carole passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 68 years. Carole will be greatly missed by her family: husband Bill of 51 years; three sons: Bobby Bill (Diane), Rick (Chassidy), (Penny/Brian); grandchildren: Zoe, Zachary, Zenze, Zeanna, Ryan, Tyler, Ashley; four siblings: Sharon (Roger), Lois, Alice, Ken; niece Shelley (Barrie), great-nephew Sheldon, as well as many relatives and friends. TIEDEMANN, Floyd

On Monday March 8, 2010 Floyd Tiedemann of Tofield passed away at the age of 72 years. Floyd will be lovingly remembered by his wife Eunice of 48 years, his two daughters: Laurie (Eugene) Lalonde and Lynn (Skye) Kaus, six grandchildren. Floyd was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings. SIVERTSON, Margaret

 Margaret Sivertson passed away on March 9, 2010 at the age of 102 years and 8 months. Margaret leaves to mourn: her daughters Inez and Shirley; son Raye (Barb); grandchildren: Gail (Ed), Glen (Sheryl), Daryl (Kathy), Lynne (Al), Bonnie, Graeme (Monica) and Kim; great grandchildren: Whitney, Karla (Jim), Mark, Rhonda, Wade, Kim, Justin, Hannah, Nicole and Max; great great-granddaughter Naomi; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Charles; three grandsons: Dean, Neil and Ward; four sisters: Cora, Lettie, Effie and Inez; and her brother Elmer. Margaret was born in Grenfell, SK in 1907. She enjoyed 35 years of teaching in Saskatchewan, B.C. and Alberta; was a talented artist and writer, published a book and numerous stories up until the age of 100. Margaret stayed current with technology using the computer daily, even e-mailing up to the hour prior to her passing. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Richmond Park Church, 9340 — 69 Avenue, Edmonton, AB. Inurnment was held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
