ROSS, Gary George
Peacefully after a long battle with cancer Gary Ross of Edmonton passed away at the age of 52 years. Gary is lovingly remembered by his Wife of 20 years Moira, their daughter Abbey, his parents George and Audrey Ross, his sister Debra (Wayne) Jack, and his nephew Matt as well as numerous family and friends. Gary was an inter-provincial automotive mechanic who fulfilled his dream by purchasing the shop he worked at: Speedy Muffler on 50th Street and 23rd avenue. A Celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Serenity Funeral Service North Central Chapel (10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue) on Saturday March 27, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute or St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital.
PODLOSKI, Imelda
Imelda is survived by her husband, Tony and will be fondly remembered by many friends and family in Mexico. Imelda is predeceased by her parents. Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 28th, 2010 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Serenity funeral services, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 29th, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady of Guadalupe, with Father Augusto Garcia PSS officiating, 11310–111 Avenue, Edmonton. ODEGARD, Elmer Morten (Mort)
August 8, 1937 — March 19, 2010 Mort passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Pauline; son James Odegard; daughter Koni Kiss; son Anton Nerland; stepchildren: Gwen Eleniak, Mathew Playter, Eldon Playter, Chad Courchene; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings: Alma, Joann and Ernest; numerous nieces, nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Mort was predeceased by his father Johan and his mother Ester. A Funeral Service will be held in Lougheed, AB on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Ron Hobden and Reverend Elaine Hobden officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held in Edmonton, AB on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 5420 — 19 A Avenue, Edmonton with Reverend Mark Hornig officiating. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the University of Alberta (Dr. Michalakis DCA Research), Department of Medicine, the Alberta Fish and Game Association or the Canadian Cancer Association.
McCRACKEN, Cissie
July 8, 1917 — March 20, 2010 Cis McCracken passed away suddenly at the age of 92 years in Whispering Waters, Stony Plain, Alberta. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, two daughters, Ann of Alberta Beach, Susan (Claude) of Stony Plain, two sons, Dale (Connie) of Stony Plain, Guy (Janet) of Kamloops, BC. Ten grandchildren Colleen (Trevor), Brenda (Darrel), Dean (Karen), Judy, Ross (Debbie), Alison, Evan (Angie), Jody (Mike), Lesley (Gerry), Kristy (Kyle), fourteen great-grandchildren Bryan, Jaimy (Justin), Randy, Riley, Hailey, Cody, Landon, Colby, Kendra, Joshua, Rhys, Jenna, Jordan, Grayden, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Borthwick, second husband, Ed McCracken, parents Robert and Cissie Meadows, sister Ethel (George) Davis and son-in-law Henry Hickie. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 1:00p.m. at the Stony Plain Community Centre (5008 — 51 Avenue) Stony Plain, Alberta with Pastor Erik Parker officiating. MALINA, Erna Gerda
March 11, 1922 — March 25, 2010 Left to remember her are her beloved husband of 55 years Franz, her children: Ruth (Bob) Montgomery, Frank, Evelyn, Christine (Jim) Kelly, Kenneth, and her grandchildren: Tiara, Joel, Jonathan Malina; Leannah and Jimmy Kelly. She is also survived by Glenda Malina. Erna was predeceased by her sisters Hildegard and Traute. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Service (5311–91 Street, Edmonton). Erna will be laid to rest on Thursday April 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at South Haven Cemetery. A Celebration of Erna’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, also on April 1, 2010 at Southside Pentecostal Assembly (2821–109 Street, Edmonton). KOTT, Alvin Wayne
October 7, 1953 — March 21, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin Wayne Kott of Edmonton, Alberta. Alvin passed away suddenly on March 21, 2010, At the age of 56. He will be fondly remembered by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving companion Beverly Gladue of 14 years, by his two sons Wayne (Nicole) and Cory (Trisha). His four grandchildren, Shyann, Mavrick, Lana, Zayne. His parents; William and Phyllis Kott and siblings, Kathy (Brian) Holt, Debbie (Lorne) Heinrichs, Bev (Len) Robb, Sandra (Chris) Astrope, Lawrence (Brenda), Noreen Harrower (Dave), Darren (Lori), Kevin (Bev), sister-in-law Brenda, As well as numerous friends and relatives. Alvin was predeceased by his brother Berwyn. A Celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Richmond Park Church 9340 69 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. HARDER, George
September 20, 1943 — March 22, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Harder, a husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. George passed away peacefully at the Edmonton Royal Alexandra Hospital on March 22, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with wife Diana by his side. George was born September 20, 1943 in Hague, SK. He spent his early years installing overhead doors in Saskatoon and area. In 1979 he met Diana. They began their life’s journey together on September 7, 1979. They lived in Saskatoon until 1983 when they then moved to Hague and resided in the same house that George’s parents had for many years. They lived in Hague from 1983 to 1987 and then moved to Edmonton, AB. where he resided until his death. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour in 2009. In the last few weeks of his life George Harder shared with many family members his new love for the Lord. It was evident that George was a changed man. He faced death with confidence knowing what awaited him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Diana, son Joe and “adopted” son Ben. Seven sisters: Tina (John) Hildebrandt, Agatha (Peter) Dyck, Helen Harder, Susan Fox, Maria Harder, Anne (John) Peters, Marti (Bob) Neufeld; One sister-in-law Eileen. Seven brothers: Jake (Sarah) Harder, Del (Hilda) Harder, Peter (Maxine) Harder, Martin (Anne) Harder, David (Eva) Harder, Henry Harder, Marvin (Mary) Harder and numerous nephews and nieces. George was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Agatha Harder; four brothers Bill, Don, Abe and John. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Serenity Funeral Services, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB. DINGMAN, Dorothy Mae
We are sad yet we rejoice for Dorothy has run the race of life well and she is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mom will be greatly missed and memories of her will be deeply cherished by her three children; Eryl (Cylena) Dingman, Sheryllyn (Eric) Quintal, Keldon (Carol) Dingman; dear daughter-in-law Marion Dingman; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, four siblings, her husband Allan and daughter Darlene. What a Reunion she will have in Heaven. MORRISON, Leontina (Tina)
Loving wife of William Lyle Morrison of Edmonton passed away peacefully on March 21, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Tina is survived by her son Michael, and daughter Laurie (Chad) Frederick; eight grandchildren: Jake (Rebecca), Matt, Ian (Ada), Yolande, and Alison Frederick, Bradley Morrison, Christopher and Angela Willowby; and one great-granddaughter Nora Ann Frederick, sister Aleda Cooper and brothers Ron (Gladys) Miller and Bill (Patti) Miller. She was predeceased by two sons James and Scott; one brother Alfred Miller; two sisters Erna and Otilla (Tillie). A Memorial Service will be held at Meadowlands Baptist Church (2215–17 Street, Edmonton) at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010.
HUBER, Gertrud
Gertrud Huber went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Gisela (Reinhold) Schmidt, Linda (Jack) Helbig, Fred (Erna) Huber, Elaine (Vaughn) Malcolm, Irene (Bill) Gowans, Anita (Marvin) Bonn, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one sister Marlene (Harold) Thompson, and many other relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed. Those wishing to pay their last respects may do so Monday, March 29 between 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Service (5311–91 Street, Edmonton). BAKER, Robina
Robina (Ruby) Baker (nee Swanson), formerly of Devon, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2010, at the Stony Plain Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side, after a proud and fruitful life of more than 100 years. Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her daughters Kathleen Wagner of Vancouver, Patricia (Philip) Montgomery of Devon and Alexandra (Rowland) Harrison of Calgary, her sister Margaret Bazeley of Grande Prairie, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edmund (Ted) and her brother David Swanson. When she was 16, her family emigrated to the Peace River country from Scotland. After graduating from the University of Alberta and studying at McGill University, she pursued her distinguished teaching career, which culminated in her appointment as Principal of the Devon Elementary School. On her retirement in 1974, the school was renamed the Robina Baker Elementary School. Her legacy includes the fond and grateful memories of family, friends, colleagues and her many pupils. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Devon Community Centre, 20 Haven Avenue, Devon, Alberta.
WALLIS, Daryl George
On Sunday, March 7, 2010, Mr. Daryl George Wallis of Wildwood, Alberta passed away at the age of 58 years. He is survived by his loving wife Alice, children Tammy, Jessie, Michael, Daryl Jr., eight grandchildren, three brothers Gordon, Wayne and Randy. Don passed away March 18, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, daughter Cheryl, son Darren (Linda), grandson Devon and granddaughter Kayla, brother George, and numerous nieces and nephews. THUNDER, Jim Jack
On March 6, 2010, Jim Jack Thunder passed away at the age of 59. He was born in Slave Lake, AB but his passions and charismatic spirit took him all over North America. He was a strong, proud and intelligent man and will be missed by all who knew him. He was funny, a real character and knew how to tell a story. He was very passionate about history and his heritage. He was a Cree Man! He leaves behind friends and family but lives on in each one of us. SUELZLE, Audrey
Audrey passed away peacefully on March 15, 2010 at the Royal Alexander Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie. Audrey is survived by her brother Ron and sister Joyce. November 2, 1946 — March 15, 2010 It is with extreme sadness and sorrow that we announce Joan Roberts of Spruce Grove passed away at the age of 63 years. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband Don, children; Paul (Monica), Nancy (Rod) Kause and Steven (Ida), grandchildren, Jade, Jordan, Cole and Cameron, mother; Lenora Turtle and siblings; Ron, Bill, Rhonda, Karen, Gordon and John. Joan was pre-deceased by her father, Robert Turtle and brother, Alan. Joan was a very special woman who laughed a lot and loved much. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. 1925–2010 Don, of Sherwood Park, Alberta passed away peacefully with his family at his side March 21, 2010. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Phyllis, children: John, Terry, Rhonda, Leslie (Dwayne), Shelley (Alan), and grandchildren: Kiersten, Kaylee, Sarah, Sharon, Micah, Ashley, Austin, and Keenan. MILLER, Cameron Donald
October 19, 1977 — March 15, 2010 Cameron was suddenly taken from us in a tragic accident.
